Fuego Volcano is located between Sacatepequez and Chimaltenango departments, on the central region of Guatemala. With an altitude of 3763 meters, Fuego volcano it’s one of the most impressive of the 38 volcanoes spread throughout the country, and is definitely the most active of them all. It’s peak, covered with ashes and lava rocks from previous eruptions, makes a great contrast with the vegetation that covers it’s twin brother: Acatenango Volcano.
Fuego Volcano has a constant activity, and has recorded 60 historic eruptions over the course of 500 years. These eruptions make this volcano one of the most active volcanoes of the world. On a clear night, rivers of lava and volcanic eruptions can be seen in nearby towns, including sometimes, the city of La Antigua Guatemala.
You can get to Fuego Volcano from 2 different directions: from La Antigua Guatemala to Ciudad Vieja (5 Km) and continue to Alotenango (2 Km). You can easily find local guides in Alotenango who can assist you in your climbing. Another option is to get to Ciudad Vieja and then to Parcelamiento Soledad. From Soledad you can climb the Acatenango volcano, get a spectacular view of Fuego’s summit and descend its southern slopes to the base of Fuego Volcano.
You can also simply get a guided tour, transportation and meals included. There are several Tour Operator Business located in La Antigua Guatemala or Guatemala City. this is cool i am in 6th grade and i am studying this mountain and all i know is the it wiped out all of indonesia and you could here in all over the world
