I studied Spanish at Proyecto Francisco Linguistico Maraquin in Antigua last summer for 5 weeks and am returning again in June for 4 more weeks. I studied college level begining Spanish for two years, but still couldn’t speak it. I am not fluent yet, but understand it much better now, especially the different tenses–all 14 of them! I am age 66 and everyone tells me that I am too old to learn another language. It is difficult, but I am learning! Reading is much easier for me than understanding the spoken language, I suppose because I am a visual person. Also my hearing is not what it should be. If you want to learn another language, don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. I was able to communicate with a travel agency in Spanish last summer and tell them what I wanted.

I studied at Juan Sisay in Xela and absolutly loved it. It’s a great school and the educaitonal theory behind the classes really ensures you have a good program.

I also studed at AEG (Academia Espanol Guatemala) in Antigua, and had a terrible experience. Everything is based on the teacher, so if you get a good one great, but if you get a bad teacher you’re screwed.

Bush is forever saying that democracies do not invade other countries and start wars. Well, he did just that. He invaded Iraq, started a war, and killed people. What do you think? Is killing thousands of innocent civilians okay when you are doing a little government makeover?
What happened to us, people? When did we become such lemmings?
The more people that the government puts in jails, the safer we are told to think we are. The real terrorists are wherever they are, but they aren’t living in a country with bars on the windows. We are.
