The adoption issue has brought the attention of many people, inside and outside Guatemala. Several resources are continuously updated to keep people informed of the most important changes in the adoption legislation.
The Asociacion Defensores de la Adopción provides extensive information of the main changes being made by the government and the congress regarding the adoption law, while Guatemala Adoptive Families Network is a site created by families with adopted children from Guatemala with many resources about the adoption process, agencies and up-to-date information.
The U.S. Department of State issued a guide intended to inform American citizens on the adoption process and requirements. On the Guatemalan Congress web page, daily updates are accessible in Spanish. You can also find useful information at the UNICEF web page and the full text of the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-Operation in Respect Of Inter-Country Adoption on the Hague Conference web site.
