About Guatemala

Keeping with the tradition of exotic destinations the acclaimed show survivor announced Guatemala as the next host location for their show. After a bit of opposition from the Guatemalan Government which feared filming activity would result in damage to archeological and natural treasures finally the choice became official.

National Park Yaxhá-Nakum-Naranjo, featuring splendid Mayan ruins and pyramids from the classical Maya period this park will provide both the viewers and the participants with a unique visual experience. The almost virginal flora and Fauna of the region opens endless opportunities to challenge both the body and the mind. Participants however should consider this location to be a blessing. Guatemala is known as the land of eternal spring; this is a title earned due to a year round temperate climate. Also this region will offer an endless array of edible plants, insects and small critters.

Guatemalan military schools hold yearly survival training in this region. The training consists in dropping their cadets in an undisclosed location, normally within 80 to 100 kilometers from the nearest villages or roads. The participants are taken blindfolded and released with nothing more than the clothes in their back. Their duty is to find their way back home. This exercise averages 15 grueling days in which the cadets demonstrate true survivalist skills.
