Accommodation

acommodationGuatemala has experienced a tourism boom over the past few years. This has been reflected in the large number of lodges, hotels and guesthouses that have sprung up in order to meet the growing demand. The accommodation establishments range from luxurious five star and boutique hotels to simple and rustic accommodation in the middle of the jungle.

Guatemala offer a wide selection of accommodation establishments that cater for both businessman and tourist. You’ll find hotels that provide all the facilities and services you could need on the main tourist destinations, while in small towns you’ll might find smaller hotels that provide a basic but comfortable accommodation. Some of these would often be a family business ran by locals.

Many hotels take advantage of Guatemala’s beauty and diverse variety. Eco tourism demand has resulted in infrastructure and hotel development inside or near natural reserves, cloud forests and jungles, at the shores of lakes and lagoons.
Guatemala has a rich ethnic and cultural diversity that attracts people to little towns and villages. In many of these towns accommodation is available, from five star hotels near a Mayan market to a modest lodge in a farmer’s town.

For people interested in spending some leisure time, hotels inside coffee plantations has come into fashion. A room would include a tour throughout the coffee making process. On the other hand, many people come to Guatemala to learn Spanish. The schools usually offer accommodation with a host family.

So, no matter if your coming for business or tourism, and regardless of what your budget is, Guatemala will always have an accommodation option for you.

One of the most autentic XIX century style Inns in the historic center of Guatemala city is the Posada Belen Museo Inn, built 1873 and opened in 1973. It is furnished with antiques and has a large exibit of ancient Guatemalan art, they do have a 9 days Guatemala Classc Jorney tour that includes hotels in the country that are also autentic and with character, door to door transfers into Antigua, Chichicastenango, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala City an Tikal. Check their web site at www.posadabelen.com or www.mayatrip.com for travel arrangements. Guatemala city is full of hidden surprises and gems, it is worth to explore. Lucky me to be the first to be able to post here.
